Democracy ?? My foot!

We Indians are proud to be the world's largest democracy. Well thanks to our Chinky brothers who have little faith in the ballot box, we are indeed the largest voter list in the world. Does that mean that India has come of age from its age old Raja-Praja practices. Observe carefully, and you would say "No". Afterall , old practices die hard. When India attained independence some 50 yrs ago, Pt. Nehru became the obvious choice for Premiership. And guess who is projected to rule us for the coming years- his great-grand son/daughter. Should we call this democracy or Monarchy?
We Indians have this habit of attributing everything to our lineage. We think that everything boils down to one's BLOOD. Blame the traditional caste system for this school of thought. Even the movies tell the same sad story. Until we get rid of this ugly syndrome, even GOD wont be able to help our nation.

India Vs Israel

Compare these two incidents:

India-A country of 1 billion people and one which is "aspiring" to become a superpower and wants the world to respect it.About 200 citizens lose their lives in a ghastly terrorist attack and what follows? Words, words and more words but no action even 10 days after the attack.

Israel- A country with only 7 million people surrounded on all sides by hostile nations.Two of its soldiers were abducted by some militants.And the response- WAR on the country playing host to those militants. And even after 4 days, it simply refuses to tone down its response.

I am not passing judgements on the foreign policies of these countries. But as an Indian I am pained to see that there is no value attached to the life of a citizen here.Countries which "EXPORT" terrorists to INDIA ( read Pak, B'desh) continue to get away scot free. Even a tiny country like B'desh does n't think twice before starting a minor border clash or uttering anti-India comments, all thanks to the SOFT NATION status of India.

It is time for India to realize that respect is something which should be EARNED through actions and not mere words.

Finally started a blog!

Well, after months and months of second & third thoughts, I finally started my own blog "mixed fruit jam". I must confess that this is not the best name for a blog :(. But thanks to my LATE entry into the world of blogging, I was deprived of better names. Nonetheless, I m happy with "Mixed fruit jam". Basically, I will be DISHING out thoughts/views/accusations/slanderous remarks on a variety of topics and hence the name "MIXED FRUIT". I hope you will have a great time here.
